Linfox and Australia Post have teamed up to drive mental health awareness across the transport and logistics industry, with eye-catching new signage on two high-capacity freight vehicles.
The new trailers feature Healthy Heads in Trucks & Sheds branding, a charitable organisation dedicated to promoting mental health and wellbeing in Australia’s road transport and warehouse industries.
Speaking at an event to mark the project, Australia Post Group Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Paul Graham said, “We’re incredibly proud to partner with Linfox to highlight the crucial work of Healthy Heads and ensure that mental health and wellbeing remains a constant focus for people working in this demanding sector.
“Our 28-year partnership with Linfox is built on shared values, and this first joint livery project is a testament to the strength of our collaboration.”
Addressing a significant need
Healthy Heads tackles the serious mental health impacts caused by the demanding and unique challenges of working in the transport and logistics industries.
CEO Healthy Heads in Trucks & Sheds, Naomi Frauenfelder said poor mental health and overcoming stigma remain major concerns within the sector.
“Long hours, social isolation, poor access to fresh food, prolonged sitting, disrupted sleep, and work pressure place drivers at a significantly increased risk of developing mental health problems,” said Naomi.
“Similarly, logistics and warehouse workers face wellbeing challenges such as fatigue due to shift work, repetitive tasks, tight deadlines, and heavy workloads.”
Research also shows that people working in male-dominated industries are less likely to utilise existing mental health and wellbeing services and resources.
The Ten to Men: the Australian Longitudinal Study of Male Health report from the Australian Institute of Family Studies revealed that mental ill-health remains alarmingly high among Australian men.
Up to 25 per cent have been diagnosed with a mental health disorder in their lives, and 15 per cent experienced one within a 12-month period.
Despite this, just a quarter of men said they would seek help from a mental health professional if facing personal or emotional problems.
A common goal
Linfox and Australia Post’s strategic partnership dates back to the mid-1990s, with Linfox providing intrastate and interstate transport services nationally.
In addition to its popular roadshow, Healthy Heads offers tailored information, training, tools and resources, including the Healthy Heads App, to support people in the industry.
Launched in August 2020, the foundation was established by Linfox, Australia Post, Coles, Woolworths and other major transport providers.
Linfox Founder Lindsay Fox AC is the founding Patron of the Healthy Heads in Trucks & Sheds Foundation and CEO Linfox Australia and New Zealand, Mark Mazurek is a founding board member.
