Linfox joins regulator, industry and government to boost road safety around heavy vehicles

Linfox has joined the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR), Coles and industry operators to support the We Need Space road safety campaign.

We Need Space reinforces the importance of driving safely around heavy vehicles on Australian roads and includes a series of community service announcements and educational resources.

Supercars Champion, Garth Tander is the campaign ambassador.

We Need Space highlights simple, conscious actions for road users when driving near heavy vehicles that will reduce incidents and contribute to saving lives.

CEO Linfox Logistics Australia and New Zealand, Mark Mazurek said Linfox’s invitation to participate in the We Need Space road safety campaign is an endorsement of Linfox’s reputation for safety and compliance.

“Keeping Linfox people and our communities safe is built into the fabric of our business through our industry leading Vision Zero strategy,” Mr Mazurek said.

“Linfox drivers are highly skilled, comprehensively trained and a key reason why, in 2021, Linfox achieved its best safety results ever.

“Our drivers spend significant time on the road every day, often having to navigate unpredictable and congested traffic.

“In incidents involving both trucks and cars, it is more often the car driver who is at fault. Trucks are more difficult vehicles to manoeuvre, and our professional drivers need space to keep other road users safe.”

NHVR CEO Sal Petroccitto said We Need Space was a great example of the regulator, business and government working together in the interest of road safety.

He thanked the We Need Space partners for coming on board and expressed appreciation for the support of Garth Tander for helping to deliver these important safety messages.

“Garth has been an invaluable We Need Space ambassador, helping spread the word that, unlike a racing car driver, it’s not all about getting to the front and staying there,” Mr Petrocitto said.

Linfox has also partnered with the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator, Coles, Woolworths, Australia Post, Toll, Qube and Ron Finemore Transport to fund the inception and development of Healthy Heads in Trucks and Sheds (HHTS).

HHTS intends to shine a light on mental health, connecting everyone in the industry with mental health and wellbeing resources, training, insights, and support.
