Growing up in Mumbai, Linfox Test Manager Namrita Anchan often visited local orphanages with her mother.
“My mother is incredibly giving and humble,” said Namrita. “She’s always volunteered for children’s causes outside her regular job. She’s always given back.”
Those early experiences were transformative for Namrita.
“I often think, ‘my gosh, I’m so very privileged,” she said. “I had a stable home, with both parents to take care of me and support me.”
Sharing her mother’s passion, Namrita volunteered for clean water initiatives in rural India in her early twenties.
“Access to safe drinking water is a significant problem in rural India, with diseases like malaria posing a serious risk.”
After earning a bachelor’s degree in computer applications from SNDT Women’s University in Mumbai, she held roles in various global IT organisations. She also taught English and mathematics to grade nine to 12 students part-time.
When an opportunity to move to Melbourne presented itself in 2016, she jumped at it.
“I haven’t looked back,” said Namrita.
“It was challenging at first because I’d held leadership roles back home, but experience gained in India often isn’t recognised here, so I had to start from scratch.”
After gaining local experience, Namrita joined Linfox as a Transport Solutions Test Analyst, later progressing to Test Manager, responsible for managing a dedicated team.
Namrita still volunteers, serving as Parliamentarian for Toastmasters International and as an Enterprise Leader in the Linfox Gender Equality Group.
“Linfox IT is very progressive, and I encourage any females interested in IT to explore the opportunities here,” she said.
“We are seeing progress, but real change takes time.”
In 2024, Namrita was honoured with the Australian Freight Industry Women’s Leadership Award.
