Striking the right career chord

From a degree in Contemporary Music to becoming the Operations Manager at one of Linfox’s busiest refrigerated sites, Noah Heldt’s path to success has been anything but typical.

“A lot of luck, and good timing,” says Noah, reflecting on his decision to take a summer ‘pick n pack’ job at Linfox‘s Healthcare site in Kewdale, Perth.

Growing up in a musical family, Noah always thought his calling was in the music industry.

“I’m a singer and pianist, specialising in contemporary and jazz,” explains Noah.

However, an ad on his university’s job board three years ago, led him to Linfox.

“I’d never even seen inside a warehouse, but I really enjoyed it, and within three months, I was appointed team leader,” said Noah.

Shortly after, Noah left university to pursue a full-time leadership role with Linfox.

“My parents wanted me to complete a degree, but by that point, I’d already found my calling with Linfox,” said Noah.

Today, as an Operations Manager for Linfox customer, Bega Group, Noah oversees warehousing and transport operations in Perth.

"I’m passionate about providing equal opportunities for people from diverse backgrounds.

“We have a diverse workforce, including many Nepalese and Bhutanese people – they handle the cool temperatures well!

“I’ve learned a lot about the world by hearing different perspectives. It’s easy to miss context, but viewpoints change when you see things through someone else’s eyes.”

Noah is also committed to helping others progress from entry-level positions to leadership roles.

“I had the opportunity to progress, and I want others with the same drive to have that too.”

To his parents’ delight, Noah is now pursuing a part-time MBA at Curtin University, with the support of his manager.

As for his music career?

“I still play regularly. Music will always be a part of my life.”

In 2024, Noah received the Refrigerated Warehouse and Transport Association of Australia’s Frank Vale Award and the Australian Logistics Council’s Rising Star Award.
