Linfox’s first carbon neutral building certified

Act Sustainably

Linfox has earned the coveted Climate Active carbon neutral building certification for its Willawong, Queensland cross-functional logistics facility and state head office.

This endorsement is in line with Linfox’s pledge to reduce its emissions, continuing the company’s broader environmental sustainability vision for this site and beyond.

The Climate Active building certification recognises the harmonious integration of on-site features dedicated to reducing carbon emissions. These encompass solar and battery systems, energy-efficient LED lighting, electric forklifts powered by on-site generated solar energy, zero landfill waste practices, and highly efficient refrigeration systems, among other initiatives.

Carbon offsets have helped mitigate residual emissions from fossil fuel sources while finding ways to eliminate these residual emissions.

Already accredited with a 5 Star Green Star Design and As Built rating from the Green Building Council of Australia, the site is constructed to withstand climate change and resist the effects of extreme weather events, mitigating their impact on national supply chains.

Linfox is also investing in achieving zero waste to landfill and securing an ongoing renewable electricity contract.

Linfox Willawong, QLD carbon neutrality sustainability milestones (2023):

Solar PV systems increased production from 12% to 49%

40% of site electricity is now provided by solar PV and Battery Energy Storage Solution (BESS) systems

720 CO2 tonnes per year saved through solar PV and BESS systems

2,236 ACCU credits purchased to mitigate carbon emissions that could not be curtailed further.

“We are proud to achieve our first site Climate Active building certification. This is one of a number of steps in our quest to create certified, sustainable ecosystems that power our green facilities and growing electric fleet,” said CEO Linfox Australia and New Zealand, Mark Mazurek.

“Linfox is partnering with our customers to ensure support and alignment with our shared sustainability goals, it’s positive for the environment, protects our communities and it’s good for business.”
