Oil and gas provider, Woodside Energy has opened its new LNG Truck Loading Facility in Karratha, a key milestone in the development of a local LNG market for remote power generation and transport fuels.
The facility was officially opened by the Premier of Western Australia, the Hon. Mark McGowan MLA, at a ceremony in Karratha.
Linfox is partnering with Woodside and EDL Energy to provide transport of LNG to mining operations and communities in the Pilbara and Kimberly regions as part of a new strategic partnership.
“Linfox will invest in six Volvo tri-drive prime movers and employ around 16 new drivers to service the partnership,” said Resources and Industrial General Manager, Justin Taylor.
“We look forward to growing and investing in our partnership with Woodside and EDL Energy as demand for LNG in Western Australia continues to grow.”
The new facility will initially be able to deliver seven LNG truck loadings per day, each one transporting the equivalent of more than 80,000 litres of diesel.
At this initial capacity, replacing that diesel with LNG could reduce lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions by more than 120,000 tonnes per year.
