Why did you join the Linfox Graduate Program?
My interest in Supply Chain and Logistics developed from a young age as I was curious and wanted to understand how the flow of items moved from the factory to our shelves. Linfox provides three rotations in a 18 month program giving me the chance to see how business works on a day-to-day level. Linfox is a leader in the supply chain & logistics industry with an excellent record of safety and reducing carbon emissions. This corresponded with my values as an individual and I believe Linfox will provide the opportunities I need to learn and develop my career and ambitions in life – financially, personally and morally.
What is your current rotation and typical day like?
I am currently in my first rotation based in the Industrial Business Unit under the Owens Illinois Contract in Laverton, Melbourne. A typical day would involve communication with people (managers, supervisors, forklift and truck drivers), working on SAP, driving a buggy to conduct counts, helping out in operations and wherever my time and skills are needed. Working for Linfox never gets dull, as there are always new things to learn and do.
What aspects of Linfox do you value, find exciting or inspiring?
Safety is the number one priority at Linfox. Vision Zero is our objective to achieve zero fatalities, injuries, motor vehicle accidents, net environmental emissions and zero tolerance of unsafe behaviour and practices. Most companies do not practice what they preach but at Linfox, it is evident through the day-to-day running of operations, that safety comes before all else. Our mission to reduce our carbon emissions has also been an outstanding success and Michael Byrne, our CEO, has set an ambitious new target for us to achieve.
