Charlie McAdam, works in Linfox’s Heinz Altona (Victoria) warehouse and recently gained his forklift driver’s licence.
Just like his father, St Kilda great Gilbert McAdam, Charlie loves Australian Rules football. While Charlie keeps his football aspirations well alive, he is grateful for his work at Linfox. “My mates here at work have really mentored me.”
“I really enjoy the work and am happy to have this position,” said Charlie, who joined Linfox as part of the Indigenous Employment Program (IEP) partly funded by the Australian government.
“Especially after working with Aboriginal children in Darwin, I know how difficult it can be to do something important with your life. I like working at Heinz and it’s also great to have footy to fall back on,” he added.
As a youth, Charlie played football for the Northern Territory and the South Australian National Football League in the under 18s group. He was a draftee in the 2009 AFL national season. Today Charlie is an avid St Kilda supporter and plans to train for VFL (Victorian Football League) pre-season.
David Moyle, Site Manager at Linfox’s Heinz site said, “Charlie has great aspirations. It’s great to see that kind of drive and potential in a young man – both here at Linfox and with his footy.”
