Linfox drivers Col Ritchie and Pat Johnson left our Linehaul depot in Townsville, Northern Queensland for what became a most unusual trip.
They were headed south towards Brisbane, to deliver a load of bananas, but because of flooded roads had to take an inland detour of 750km.
Col and Pat became marooned in the small community of Chinchilla, around 300 km west of Brisbane because of the ever rising flood waters.
They finally arrived, exhausted at the Willawong depot on Saturday 15 January after spending four days isolated in western Queensland. A trip that would usually take two days took them six. Yet, the bananas were delivered in good condition.
