Nine Indigenous drivers are working as part of the Linfox team for the BHP Billiton Olympic Dam mine in South Australia.

Luke Smith, Linfox’s Site Manager at Port Augusta said, “Linfox’s Indigenous Employment Program is proving a great success and allows us to access a larger local talent pool.”

Linfox Chairman, Peter Fox visited the site recently and met some of the new drivers.

Samantha Baring, National Indigenous Employment Manager said, “The program in Port Augusta is very impressive, and our Indigenous operators are enthusiastic and have vast experience working in remote areas. This is a very positive development as Linfox’s resources business continues to grow.”

Linfox began its Indigenous Employment Program in 2010 and has since employed 139 Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islanders in a variety of roles. The program, which is continuing to develop across Australia aims to employ 500 Indigenous employees.
