Blended biodiesel fuels are reducing greenhouse gas emissions in Linfox’s business.
Linfox has introduced a five per cent biodiesel/mineral diesel blend (B5) at its Acacia Ridge (Brisbane) and Laverton (Melbourne) service centres.
Peter Wright, FMCG Fleet Manager said, “Initially Linfox will use about four million litres of B5 per year and monitor vehicle performance and reliability. If satisfactory we will then roll out B5 to Linfox service centres around Australia.”
Biodiesel is a cleaner-burning alternative fuel produced from a range of plant or animal sources including recycled cooking oil, tallow, oil seeds and other plants. It is often blended with mineral diesel up to a maximum concentration of 21 per cent.
Peter said that biodiesel fuels will play a significant role in helping Linfox meet its goal of reducing the rate of greenhouse gas emissions by 50 per cent by 2015.
