Reducing risks at work

No employee should ever be injured at work. As part of Linfox Logistics’ Vision Zero commitment to safety we’ve developed risk networks to reduce the risk of major safety hazards in our workplace.

Our risk networks are made up of employees from all levels of the business who commit to a particular area of risk to find ways to make it safer. The risk network teams are:

  • Manual handling
  • Fatigue
  • Housekeeping (slips and trips)
  • Traffic management
  • Driver behaviour
  • Load/Unload

Risk network teams meet regularly to discuss ways to identify and decrease safety risks across the business. Each team receives input from operators and frontline employees to ensure solutions are practical. Teams present their findings and initiatives to the Linfox central safety committee twice a year.

Some of the initiatives that have come out of the risk networks are:

  • A new manual handling training kit to equip all employees with the right techniques and behaviours in manual handling
  • Regular toolbox meeting materials to empower site leaders to deliver key safety messages to employees
  • Housekeeping day

CEO Michael Byrne said, “At Linfox safety is our mantra. Vision Zero is about leadership, setting clear safety expectations to ensure people return home safely. Our risk networks are just one of the strategies that will help us achieve Vision Zero.”
