Prime Minister Kevin Rudd opens new Linfox Head Office

Prime Minister Kevin Rudd today opened Linfox Logistics’ new $20 million head office building in Melbourne.

Mr Rudd said, “The Linfox Group is making an enormous contribution to the Australian economy. It continues to grow despite the worst global recession in 75 years, and has become the largest privately owned supply chain solutions company in the Asia Pacific region.”

PM and Victorian Premier thank Lindsay Fox

“Lindsay Fox personally has shown that no matter what your beginnings are, hard work and tenacity will bring success,” said Mr Rudd.

“The great relationship between Lindsay Fox and Bill Kelty will be a potent weapon in the fight against unemployment as Lindsay and Bill work directly with our Local Employment Coordinators across the country, and advise employers in disadvantaged communities on practical ways they can keep on their workers and even take on new apprentices and employees,” said Mr Rudd.

Victorian Premier, John Brumby said, “In these tough times it is encouraging to see major Victorian employers like Linfox continue to invest to grow their businesses, providing employment opportunities for so many Victorians.”

"Linfox's new head office represents a $20 million investment in the future of this great Victorian company and is an overwhelming vote of confidence in our state and in the economy."

Leading the way on the environment

Linfox founder, Lindsay Fox encouraged Australian industry to continue investing in future expansion and environmental sustainability in the current challenging economic climate.

“Our new head office’s five star environmental rating is in line with the business’s strategy to reduce our rate of carbon emissions by 15 per cent by 2010,” he said. “Linfox leads the logistics industry in addressing the impact of our operations on climate change.”

“This new building is designed to minimise power use and optimise water and waste recycling. Lighting is controlled by movement sensors and a massive rainwater tank system waters the garden and supplies bathrooms.”

Developing Linfox people

Lindsay Fox said, “The Logistics business is committed to developing our people, our strong customer partnerships and to investing in technology that leads the industry in delivering efficiency for our customer operations."

“Our investment in this facility reflects confidence in our strategy to remain a robust business in the current economic climate and to expand the business as economies regain strength.”
