MARS Petcare announced today that the company has appointed Linfox to manage supply chain logistics for the company, effective from 1 September 2008. Mars Petcare also announces that it will continue to utilise Rancho as its warehouse partner under a long term agreement.

"MARS Petcare exports single serve and canned pet food made at our Wodonga acilities to a range of countries throughout Asia-Pacific, as well as supplying the Australian market," said Mr Alan Sharp, Director of Supply, MARS Petcare.

"To remain at the forefront as Australia’s leading petcare company and a major exporter of processed foods, we require world class logistics services that are very time sensitive and equipped to handle our customers’ needs for our wide range of product formats. After careful consideration, we decided that Linfox was best able to meet our expectations, and those of our customers."

"Linfox is a proven supplier to other areas of our business as they already provide warehousing and logistics services for our confectionery and human food businesses. Through their warehousing, transport and IT expertise they have demonstrated their ability to provide the services we need to integrate our supply chain throughout Australia and seamlessly manage distribution into our important export markets in Asia-Pacific," added Mr Sharp.

"We have had a 42 year unique partnership with Rancho, our current local specialised warehouse partner and we are pleased that we will continue to work closely with them in the years ahead. Rancho will continue to provide the premises with an operational lease to Mars Petcare. We will be working with Rancho management to ensure a smooth transition to the new logistics provider", said Mr Sharp.
