“As an industry leader in the Asia Pacific Region, Linfox Logistics will develop a program to identify and reduce carbon emissions.” -- Michael Byrne CEO
Linfox Logistics is committed to reducing the impact of its operations on the environment. Linfox’s environmental policy consists of a series of commitments that set the standards that the business aims to achieve.
These commitments are:
- To ensure compliance with environmental acts, regulations, by-laws and industry standards
- To include environmental considerations in business planning and continually improve our environmental performance
- To continually seek efficiencies in the use of resources, including energy, chemicals, water, packaging and other materials
- To reduce, re-use and recycle wastes wherever practicable
- To engage and encourage employees to be involved in home and volunteer community activities with a focus on environmental improvement.
- To direct our efforts towards achieving Carbon Neutrality through policies of Greenhouse Gas reduction and abatement
- To implement procedures and systems to check, review and disclose our company’s environmental performance
- To provide the necessary training to employees and communication to all stakeholders to meet our environmental goals
- To work collaboratively with our customers and governments to improve environmental performance and business sustainability.
- To engage with industry partners, suppliers, research institutions and other networks to support and enhance sustainable business practices
The business is engaged in a long term strategic review and plan to help to reach these commitments. Linfox’s initial target is to reduce the rate of greenhouse gas emissions by 15 per cent by 2010 based on its 2006-2007 emissions.
Linfox is working with its customers and with government bodies across its Asia Pacific operation to reduce carbon emissions. In Australia Linfox is registered for the Energy Efficiencies Opportunity Legislation Act and is reporting under the national Greenhouse Emissions Reporting Act. Linfox is a member of Greenhouse Challenge Plus which helps companies form working partnerships with Government to reduce energy consumption and emissions.
